Company History

Owner and President Helmut K. Marosits had been working in the home improvement industry for more than twelve years before he decided to start H&R Homes. Throughout the late 1960s and most of the 1970s, Helmut was working for a large home improvement company based in the New England and New York area. He rose steadily through the ranks of that company and would come to manage several offices throughout the region. In 1979, Helmut decided to relocate to the Springfield area and he started H&R Homes in Ludlow, MA.

Helmut’s goal is to provide the residents of Massachusetts with a professional choice for all of their home improvement needs. H&R is incorporated in 1980 and Helmut’s personal attention to his customers begins to payoff. Very quickly, the company grows through its previous customers and their referrals to family and friends.

H & R begins building custom homes in the Ridgecrest area of Westfield during the early 1980s. Helmut’s unique designs and quality workmanship is an immediate success. H&R builds more homes in the area and the company begins to be recognized as an industry leader in Massachusetts.

H & R receives many awards from local organizations such as the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for its service to the community and the company’s professionalism. Helmut is elected to serve as President of the Home Builders Association of Western Mass (HBAWM) in 1987. Helmut remains very active in the organization and still holds a seat on the Board of Directors as a past president.

Helmut’s son Hunter grew up in his father's business. As a child, he spent every summer alongside his father and learned the business from the ground up. Hunter graduated from Wilbraham & Monson Academy in 1995. He has been working full-time for the company since 1997. In 1999, Hunter receives a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts.

His primary focus is sales and marketing. In 2001, Hunter is promoted to serve as Vice President of H&R. Hunter continues gaining new customers for H & R as well as serving its thousands of previous customers. In 2005, Hunter expands the company's territory eastward with an office in Sturbridge, MA. H & R begins welcoming many new customers from the surrounding towns of western Worcester County.

In 2010, Hunter is elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Western Mass (HBRAWM). In 2012, Hunter is elected to serve as Third Vice President for HBRAWM. Hunter also serves on the Board of Directors for the Home Builders Association of Massachusetts(HBAM).
